Overview
The University of Ghana, in partnership with the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), is offering fully funded postgraduate scholarships for the 2025–2026 academic year.

About the TDR Programme
TDR (the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases) is a global program sponsored by UNICEF, UNDP, the World Bank, and WHO. It supports research and capacity-building initiatives that address infectious diseases of poverty. The University of Ghana's TDR scholarship aims to strengthen health systems by equipping professionals with the skills to conduct implementation research that leads to improved health outcomes across Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Be a citizen and resident of a low- or middle-income country in the WHO African Region
- Be under 35 years of age at the time of application
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
- Meet the University of Ghana’s admission requirements for graduate studies
- Demonstrate interest in a career related to implementation research on infectious diseases of poverty
- Be proficient in English
- Provide proof of study leave from employment (if applicable)
- Agree to meet all health regulations required by the University of Ghana and the Government of Ghana
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the University of Ghana TDR Scholarship will receive:
- Round-trip airfare from the home country to Accra, Ghana
- Full tuition and academic fees
- Monthly stipend to support living expenses
- Basic medical and accident insurance
- Support for research dissertation expenses
Application Process: Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Learn About the Program and Start Your Application
- Visit the University of Ghana’s graduate admissions page:
- Review the requirements carefully, then click “Apply Now” to begin.
Step 2: Select Your Applicant Category
- Choose “Ghanaian Applicant” or “International Applicant” as appropriate
Create an account, log in, and complete your application for either:
Master of Public Health (Social and Behavioral Science)- MSc in Applied Health Social Science
Step 3: Apply for the TDR Scholarship
- Visit: TDR
- Create a separate account and submit your scholarship application
- Ensure all required documents are uploaded and the application is fully completed
Note: Only applicants who complete all three steps will be considered.
Selection Process
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews
- Selected applicants will receive an official offer letter from the University of Ghana
- Offers must be accepted within 7 calendar days; failure to respond will be taken as a withdrawal
- The University reserves the right to withdraw the award if any part of the application is found to be false
