Host Institution and Program
The University of Glasgow’s Adam Smith Business School invites applications for its combined MRes/PhD training scheme in Economics. This program begins with a two-year Master of Research (MRes), followed by three to four years of PhD study for candidates who meet the required performance criteria.
Up to six scholarships will be awarded in 2025, covering full tuition and living support. Students will also engage in limited teaching responsibilities starting from the second year of study.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Hold an offer of admission to the MRes in Economics, beginning in September 2025.

Satisfy the entry requirements for the MRes program.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive comprehensive funding for up to five years:
Tuition Fees: Covered at the Home/EU or International rate
Annual Stipend: £19,795 (RCUK standard rate, 2025/26 estimate)
Research Grant: £4,925 annually during the PhD phase (years 3–5)
Renewable Funding: Subject to annual academic progression and PhD program acceptance
